Sarah Palin Baby Scandal: Bristol Palin Pregnancy Rumors Laid to Rest
Okay, lets just get to the bottom of these Sarah Palin baby scandal rumors that are claiming Sarah’s daughter Bristol Palin is actually the real mother of her fifth child.
The Sarah Palin babygate rumors which have been circulating for months picked up speed on Friday when the Daily Kos posted a blog entry claiming the Alaska governor faked her pregnancy to cover up daughter Bristol’s teen pregnancy.
First of all, Sarah’s infant son Trig has Down Syndrome. The incidence of Down Syndrome is estimated at 1 per 800 births, or 0.12%, although these statistics are heavily influenced by the age of the mother. The odds of a woman under 30 having a baby with Down Syndrome are less than 1 in 1,000, and a 17-year-old only has a 1 in 1654 chance. The odds increase to 1 in 25 for a 45-year-old woman (Sarah is 44).
Also, although the odds may increase on Wysteria Lane, what are the real odds of a mother faking a pregnancy to cover up a daughter’s teen pregnancy? When you couple that with the fact that Trig has Downs, the odds get even smaller.
The “evidence” people are using to prove the Sarah Palin babygate theory are:
1. Sarah wasn’t sporting much of a baby bump during her pregnancy.
2. Photos of Bristol appear to show a baby bump.
3. Sarah didn’t announced her pregnancy until her seventh month.
4. Sarah flew from Texas back to Alaska to have the baby after her water broke.
5. Bristol Palin was out of school with mono for five months during her mom’s pregnancy.
Although these things make you go hmmm, it is unlikely Sarah is actually baby Trig’s grandmother. Flying from Texas to Alaska after her water broke may show poor judgment, however it isn’t very convincing as evidence of a cover up. If it was actually Bristol who went into labor while Sarah was in Texas, the former Miss Alaska contestant could have easily flown back and said her water broke during or after the flight.
Prior to being selected as John McCain’s running mate, the McCain campaign would have vetted Palin to uncover any negative information. Since rumors of the baby scandal started four months ago, it would be an extremely costly mistake to have overlooked it.
UPDATE: DKos is now eating crow. Wake Up America offers further evidence that this story is absolute bunk. Can we now put this ridiculous rumor to rest please?

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Kos is “eating crow”. It looks to me like the person who wrote it still believes the story, but doesn’t want any more negative publicity. I particularly like how they ended their story with wanting to have this be a non-issue because, and rightly so, there are so many other reasons to hate this woman.
Me, I believe she’s a grandma.

Yeah right. That photo from 2006 is showing a baby bump? Ummm, don’t think so. You really think a 15 year old would pose in a tight dress in profile in an official state photo of the family fully displaying a baby bump???? Incredulous and idiotic. Obviously, that photo is too early for it to have been her child - 2006! I strongly suggest you modify this site before the law suit hits.

You didn’t lay anything to rest. However, if Sarah actually did have that baby, and flew TEN HOURS while in labor with a high risk pregnancy, that’s even worse than a coverup, because it means she’s stupid.
This attack on Sarah Palin is just terrible and I agree that kos should be held accountable for spreading these outright lies. It just proves how the democrats are running scared. When a real woman who has proven her integrity and strength in politics succeeds, the only recourse they have is to belittle and demean her. What hypocrits!!
First of all, if you’re going to write a debunking post, you have to write accurately. Palin was never former Miss Alaska - she was a contestant. She was former Miss Wasilla. Also, you brush right over her poor decision to fly back to Alaska after going into labor. This is the woman we want second in command to leading this country…I don’t want her taking flippant risks with our army, our economy. Daily KOS is not true journalism, so I’d never take it as gospel, but your post does little to dispel rumors.
THE TRUTH IS THAT Bristol Palin is currently pregnant - you will not see her on any stage or anywhere without holding the baby. Check out MC Cains’ daughter’s blog go through every photo, there is one, behind the scenes at the photo shoot you can see Bristol’s tummy, but in every single other picture (there are a lot of them) her tummy is covered and there is no problem with that. the problem is the rumors about Sarah and all started because Bristol has been home concealing the baby. That’s all it is , confusion and some really bad judgment of Sarah to hide Bristol and really really bad judgment to fly home after breaking her water. All really “weird” things to do to cover up pregnancies.

Aside from affirming that Gov. Palin was never Miss Alaska I would also like to point out the weakness of this “counter-evidence”.
What if the negative rumor had been based on one photo of this quality? The story would never have gotten off the ground. For that reason I don’t think it debunks the full-blown circumstantial case here.
I don’t know if you’re a parent, but the pregnancy process goes in a pretty straight line. One time the line may be shorter than another, but when a woman begins to lose amniotic fluid contractions are not far away…
The full story is that Gov. Palin claims 22 hours between the release of amniotic fluid and the actual birth. She initially says she delayed going to the hospital because she wanted so badly to make that speech. She then committed herself to being trapped in a plane flying all the way to Seattle from TX. She then decided to wait on her connecting flight to Anchorage.
She left Anchorage to go to her hometown where the birth could be documented by her doctor, a friend and one time appointee.
Given that and so much more, I’m going to file this Loch Ness Monster-quality photo with my copy of the single bullet theory.

Besides, if you want to exhibit your holier-than-thou attitude … why don’t you get even more angry at Obama, Michelle, and their children, for spending 20 years in an anti-American racist church, as well as associations with Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers, Rezko, etc.. Yep. Bristol Palin is 5 months pregnant. Just announced by the campaign. So the DailyKos writer was half right. Trig could not have been the child of Bristol, BECAUSE SHE IS CURRENTLY PREGNANT.
So the DailyKos was really on to something and they did accurately identify that Bristol was (and still is) pregnant. So, when will you be having crow for dinner?

If indeed Bristol is about 5 months pregnant and due around end of Dec, that would make this baby’s conception around end of March, around the time Bristol was laid up at home with a bad case of mononucleosis. She was too sick to go to school, but not sick enough for sex? This is obviously an attempt at damage control for the “Bristol is Trig’s mother” rumors which are out of control on the Internet right now. Watch out for a quicky marriage and convenient “miscarriage” before Dec of a faux baby.

Another question to you, Gina and who ever else wishes….How can Bristol leave school due to “Mono” (mind you was so sick and contagious) AND become pregnant during that time, when if I’m wrong correct me, Palin’s husband, is a stay at home dad? The issue is not that Palin’s 17 year old daughter is pregnant, but the issue is that Gov. Sarah Louise Heath Palin lied about it and that Sen. John Sidney McCain, III knew about the lie and did nothing about it. Here are just a few of the character flaws of these two candidates.
1. One of them is already lying: When the Anchorage Daily News did report the news today (that Palin’s daughter is pregnant), it pointed out: “The Daily News had asked Palin’s press secretary, Bill McAllister, over the weekend to address rumors that Bristol was pregnant. ‘I don’t know. I have no evidence that Bristol’s pregnant,’ he said on Saturday.”
The McCain team asserted that he knew about the pregnancy when he selected Palin. She has five children and now a grandchild coming as she hits the campaign trail.
2. Palin is already a flip-flopper (a character flaw that the Republicans like to throw around a great deal). “I told Congress, thanks but no thanks on that bridge to nowhere,” Palin told the cheering McCain crowd, referring to Ketchikan’s Gravina Island Bridge. But Palin was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it. The Alaska governor campaigned in 2006 on a build-the-bridge platform, telling Ketchikan residents she felt their pain when politicians called them “nowhere.” They’re still feeling pain today in Ketchikan, over Palin’s subsequent decision to use the bridge funds for other projects — and over the timing of her announcement, which they say came in a pre-dawn press release that seemed aimed at national news deadlines.
3. Palin, the “family values” candidate is already begging the media to ignore her lie “We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”
John Sidney McCain, III tells crude and insensitive jokes. Is this the man we want in the Whitehouse?

The risk of giving birth to a baby with Down’s Syndrome is extremely high in women over 40 (and even higher when the father is also over 40).
Sarah Palin “opposes the use of birth control pills and condoms even among married couples”.
I am disgusted by this irresponsible behaviour. To give birth at age 44 to a baby with Down’s because you refuse to use birth control inexcusable. Ignoring the dangers that you expose yourself and your baby to by refusing to use birth control after 40 is negligent and careless. To believe that a woman like this has the opportunity to become Vice President of the United States of America in 2008 makes me ill.

If DailyKos are scumbags, then so are you. Your “defense” of Sarah Palin was an offensive attack on Obama. You blithely toss out the same sort of rumor, innuendo, and judgement of Obama based on one or two things that his pastor said in 20 years.
Why is it that extremists on both sides are so appalled at the other side doing exactly the same thing that is second nature to them?
If only we could stick to the issues that matter and base judgement on critical thinking rather than blind partisanship.

Trig Palin’s birth was announced April 18, 2008; premature, the due date was in May. So Bristol could be pregnant again, and nearly five months along.
Truly have to wonder why, though, if she was sick with mono, amongst other questions.

Something does not add up…
The question I have is since the Trig rumor was circulating four months ago in Alaska, Sarah Palin had to know with 100% certainty that it was only a matter of time before it grew legs and that Bristol would come under intense scrutiny. I don’t think Sarah is obligated to prove anything but, knowing full well that her daughter and son would be uncomfortably and unfairly thrust into the lime light, why wouldn’t she take a blood test and put this to rest four months ago? I can hear people say she shouldn’t need to do that and your right but look at what the outcome of not doing that has become. Did she really think this wouldn’t come up or be blown out of proportion? That is just not believable. When was she planning on disclosing Bristol’s pregnancy? That was going to come out sooner or latter as well. Was her plan to wait until the rumors grew out of proportion before addressing them? Is that evidence of how she will handle accusations made against the USA if she is elected? Bury her head in the sand until it becomes a liability? I don’t believe Bristol is Trigs mother but the situation was such that any fool could realize that any number of rumors or variations on this story were bound to propagate. It was just a question of when and how bad. Why did she allow this to continue for so long and allow her daughter to unnecessarily suffer? With just a little forethought she could have released this information on her own terms and cut off the propagation of all these silly rumors before they took root. She really has exercised poor judgment thought this whole ordeal. One person could have prevented all of this, and that is Sarah Palin
I think Sarah Palin is the mother of Trig. I also think that if she insisted on giving her speech on April 17th after her waters broke, and then insisted on going on that 8 hours flight back to Alaska was because she knew that doing so could kill the fetus, and hoped that it would - a form of passive abortion which would save her face with regard to her position about abortion. It didn’t work, and now she is saddled with a Down’s Syndrome child.
Anyone really give any thought to the most obvious explanation for all this. If Trig is Bristol’s, and they were covering it up in the first place (including not revealing the truth to the McCain campaign), and this was then discovered, what choice would the McCain camp have but to trump up some story such as: “Oh it can’t be Bristol’s, well, why?, well because she’s been…pregnant actually, for 5 months as a matter of fact, and the baby is 4 months old…see, impossible.” How perfectly convenient and how well it could the narrative could be sold to the evangelical right. Then a very sad miscarriage shortly after election day tragically happens, and all is forgotten. Does this seem so unlikely?? Has any independent source even confirmed the pregnancy? Maybe someone like a medical doctor!

Personally, I think the daughter can’t keep her legs closed. Firstly, it does NOT take (5) five months to recover from mononucleosis (more like 1 month at most given today’s medical treatments). Roger Federer played professional tennis with mono for 2 months before his medical condition was revealed.

What he said is often the case, but it’s not a given. I was coaching a woman who was losing amniotic fluid and had to be induced 12 hours later because she was NOT in active labor. According to Sarah, her doc said she was not in active labor. He said he did not give her advice on flying. I wouldn’t have done it, but the info. to go on is sketchy.
Also, I found it mildly amusing that people think Sarah had to look hugely pregnant based on previous pregnancies. My mom had 6 of us kids. No one (that includes her kids) knew she was pregnant with #6 until she was 8 months pregnant, and then she didn’t look real pregnant. Her co-workers didn’t know, nor did I. And my mom is about average height, and my sister weighed over 8 lbs.
I think spreading this rumor (because that’s exactly what it is) is at best irresponsible. If it’s true, and the fact is proven, then it’s a different matter. If it’s false and you spread this about, you have done irreperable harm.
As a Christian, I’d be in serious trouble if I had to be responsible for every decision my child made. I bet some of those throwing stones, might be a little shocked if they knew EVERYTHING their kids did. Some just get caught. (Not that there aren’t good kids out there.) The kids are all human also and even in good families, they don’t always do things perfectly. And even in good famlies, the parents are not perfect.

After reading all the rumors on the net, I pretty much have to wonder if I, as a parent, wouldn’t want to delay info. getting out as long as possible. Look at how ugly it gets on the scanty and circumstantial already.
Oh, dmacxx, it does usually take but about a month to recover from Mono, but my understanding is that the medical treatment is basically bedrest. I think it quite possible that after the mono Brook was pregnant and feeling ill. I know when I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd, I just thought I had the flu, because everyone else in the house had a 24 hour stomach flu. Mine just didn’t go a way. I have to say that if Roger played tennis with Mono it was foolish. He could have ended up with a ruptured spleen.
Given the current feeding frenzy, I’m not sure that I wouldn’t keep my daughter home under the circumstances, either. I don’t think that would make them bad people, or bad parents.
And Vee, “and now she is saddled with a Down’s Syndrome child.” I think you owe a lot of parents of Down’s children a huge apology.

I thought that maybe it was just me, lol. I was in high school before as most of us with any sense has been. Several of my friends went out with mono in school. None of them were out for 5 months?! A kid out of school for 5 months means doing an entire year of school over or home schooling to catch up. It’s a ridiculous amount of time to be noted and not at all convincing. And if you had a super bad 5 month strong case of mono in your lifetime, you wouldn’t be doing any heavy breathing in my infant’s face in this lifetime, lol.
I believe also that the Palin kids are not being taught about sex at home, just told not to do it. As you can see, Sarah, apparently your views don’t work. So if 1 out of 5 kids are pregnant in your household, I guess we can expect oh, 20% of the nations teens to become pregant and STD infected because of openly stupid views like yours. You call this once over “White Wash” putting the rumor to rest? Is this Rush Limbaugh.com? Where are the photos of Sarah Pregnant? The Birth Certificate? etc. I have looked for REAL proof to dispel this rumor and can’t find any (which should be easy if she was really pregnant), making it look more believable.
This is a puzzle. All the points were made above. But we don’t need a birth certificate, all we need is a 5 minute phone call from the birth doctor to a news agency saying Sarah gave brith to Trig. Her statement is backed by a guarantee provided by the Alaska state Medical Board. That simple. No birth announcement either.
She says she knew it was Down’s. Why, risky pre-natal testing could only detect that. For what reason.
And no Doctor would approve a patient from flying. 5th baby slides right out. Down’s has high risk of birth defects that need immediate attention, take that chance on an “airplane”, yeah right?

Was Trig really born prematurely? Normally, doctors would put a premature baby in an incubator. Seems not in his case. Sarah’s math is quite fuzzy. She said Bristol is in “about” five-month pregnancy. Well, she may not know exactly how many months Bristol is (or was) in pregnancy. She might also guessed that Trig was born after “about” eight-month pregnancy.
Palin could be called a good mother for her babies, it may be that she could have proved herself a good mother, but we should not forget that she had throughn her child under bus.

i find it a little coincidental that if you go on to sarah palin’s web site as the governor of alaska and view the photo gallery, that the photos totally skip the months of february, march, and april, with very few from january. did Palin have no responsibilities as governor for almost four months? nope. they just don’t want to show that she really wasn’t pregnant. try to find pictures from those months, it’s a lot harder to do than any other time. she’s trying to cover hew own trail, but she’s making herself look guiltier and guiltier. sarah palin is not the mother of the child, just wait, it will all come out soon enough. it always does

Sarah Palin is Trig’s Grandma. October will tell us. Once more we all should be concerne that Bristols dad could be the father. Now I do not know this, but I DO know Sarah is not the mother.
We need to know the truth because she is running on her right-wing righteous values, and can’t even tell the truth—her character is important in the eyes of the world. Clinton was impeached for a lie. She has no business being allowed anywhere near the White House. What I do care about is, your daughter misses 5 months of high school, and you take her out on the campaign trail with you during a school year? Knocked up or not, aren’t there matriculation laws for high school students in Alaska, or is Bristol now a drop-out as well? And what about her brother, Track, going to high school in Michigan for most of his senior year, ostensibly so he could be seen by college scouts, and then returning home in March to graduate from the local high school. My husband and I make far less money than the Palins and we are paying cash for our child to attend a state university. And let’s not forget that it took Sarah Palin 6 years and 5 universities to get a 4-year degree in Communication.

Well I’m from the UK so haven’t had all the media hype you have all had. Looking at the photo of Bristol with the baby, she is always carrying a towel (so the baby won’t be sick on her I’m assuming) BUT it looks like she has a bigger than normal belly under there i.e. from not long having a baby!
Unfortunately the truth won’t come out, real paternity tests would be the best option but obviously if they had them then the government would have some imput (change) in them before releasing them.
Going back to earlier stories, who in their right mind would get on a plane in labour with their 5th child? - it is a highly unlikely story; it would have made better sense to lie about the day he was born now wouldnt it!

I think that waht is most important in this case is that that family is perfect example of what I don’t want for my daughters and why birth control is so important for teenaged girls.

This was Palin’s 5th child and there is NO WAY that a mother spends 10 HOURS in labor with a 5th child. No way. None. Zip. Zippo. Zilch. That child should have popped out as soon as her water broke. And, to not show ANY signs of labor on the plane? We know one thing. And we DO know it. No speculation. Her water did not break before that flight. It did not happen and if she said it did, she’s lying.
3 out of the 4 have released their medical records and the 4th, Sara Palin, said she was going to. But she hasn’t. And she won’t. Look, I don’t care that her daughter is a slut who will have had 2 babies before 18. I really don’t. But when the woman who wants to be our president lies to us, straight to our face, that makes me wonder what else she would lie about, straight to our face. It also, of course, says plenty about her (apparently only) qualification for this job — that she’s a “hockey mom”. Anyone who raises a child that gets knocked up twice before 18 is, by definition, NOT a good mother, period.
There’s only one reason for her not to release her medical records: What is in those records is more damning than the rampant (and justified) speculation. If none of this is true, then she’s subjecting her daughter to this media scrutiny unnecessarily. So, either way, she is a GIANT failure as a mother.
As for McCain vetting her, he didn’t. That much is clear.

I don’t know if any of this is true or false, but I do know a few things about being pregnant and delivering babies. First, once you lost amniotic fluid, doctors want you to deliver the baby ASAP, because the baby then has a higher risk of infections and such (because of not being protected by the fluid anymore) so I don’t know any doctors who would NOT have said something to this woman about how completely silly flying back home was.
Any mother who would choose to fly for 10 hours after her water broke…(not even mentioning the fact that this pregnancy would have been considered ”high risk” due to the baby being down’s syndrome AND the mother being 44) is making a pretty stupid decision, and anybody willing to make such a selfish, stupid decision is NOT fit to be VP of ANYTHING! let alone a whole country!!! let alone one as powerful as the USA… I just wish Americans were capable of making smart rational decisions…. not one based on ridiculous things like celebrities opinion… if this campaign/election has shown the world anything… its that economy, healthcare, education … are all very secondary if you want to be president of the US …

Knowing of Down Syndrome ahead of time just might help you better prepare for the birth ahead of time and give time to deal with a flood of emotions, you think? Oh no…we have to jump to the worst case judgment…I’m in the medical field and would like to share this to those of you who seem to know so much about Down’s pregnancies but only contradict your intelligence by your senseless comments. Down Syndrome babies have a very floppy low musle tone which often involves a lower birth weight as well a “less showing pregnancy.” And finally, one’s claim to a conviction of abstinence does not insure perfection or 100% good choices of our free willed children. I can teach my child abstinence all his/her life but that does not guarantee he or she will always resist temptation and make the right choice. However, neither does providing them with a condom insure they will use it. What makes more sense here? And…who are you to judge? Can’t help but laugh at your ignorance in the matter. How in the world do you possibly know how Sarah and Todd parent in their home? A pregnant teen-ager tells you nothing about parenting skills but much about a person’s free will regardless of what they are taught. I would be embarrassed to make such judgment calls as you have and in fact, am embarrassed for you. I pray God show you a little more grace and mercy than you have demonstrated at your time of judgment. Oh…by the way, speaking of birth certificates or lack thereof…I would be much more concerned about the missing birth certificate of our President Elect than I would be of the grandchild of a former VP candidate.
Now what do I say? I say I still believe Palin lied and she is not the child’s mother. I don’t know anything about “that truth that was supposed to come out in Oct or Nov.” I do know there are photos of Palin in Alaska newspapers which says they were taken in her sixth and seventh months, and there is no way the woman in those photos is that far along… maybe she’s a week pregnant, but certainly not six or seven months! I’ll stop believing she lied when the Anchorage Daily News and The Alaska Journal post corrections for the dates of the photos. Trig was supposedly born on April 18, 2008, one month premature.

What’s wrong with that picture? By the way, I am the mother of a child with Down Syndrome and at 9 months gestation, I was wearing regular jeans. Again, the baby’s low tone makes them more floppy and more easily concealed. I’m also in the medical field for pediatrics. I also was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis about a month ago so I do my medical homework and unfortunatley, I live it. When you get more information on “what a pregnant woman must look like” according to ‘Kathleen’ standards and if it’s credible, feel free to share it. Until then, I encourage you to not say much more about how a woman should look at 24-32 weeks gestation. You’re only revealing your lack of education in this area. Where do you say Trig comes from since the timing of her daughter’s pregnancy negates that whole theory….and why do you care? If it’s an integrity issue for you, you have plenty of those to worry about while supporting the 44th President of the US.

I think we were all smart enough to know they would eventually “cough up” a birth certificate. And, they did. So…that fixes everything for shallow people like yourself who are more concerned about a woman’s pregnant belly (someone who is no longer even in the race…So again, why do you care.?) Look around at your country..you have bigger fish to fry so grow up. The only reason I entertained the Sarah Palin pregnant belly is that I can relate to her situation and it struck a very painful nerve, especially when you long for a normal pregnancy and are showing so little that people don’t even know to ask when the baby is due. Did you ever think of that side of the coin..who you may be hurting, or do you care? I think I know the answer to that question.
And to “Super Prematurely” comment,,,what??? What does an incubator have to do with anything. Every baby is put into an incubator following birth, even at full term to raise its body temperature. That’s what that bed is with the plastic casing and the little door to put you hand through, is. Maybe you were referring to a ventilator, which would make more sense..sort of, except that a baby who is only one month premature is often not a big deal at all and many, in fact, leave the hospital in the same length of time as a full term baby.
