Melanie Chisholm aka Sporty Spice and boyfriend of six years, property developer Thomas Starr, are expecting their first bundle of joy. Melanie was the only Spice Girl without a child - now she can happily join in when they all gather with their children.

Melanie announced the good news on her website this morning. The message indicated that the couple are both thrilled to become parents.

Chisholm will be working on new songs for her upcoming solo album in the near future but does plan to take some time off the be a “mum”.

Congratulations to Melanie and Thomas!
