The New Yorker Controversial Obama Cover
The New Yorker has published a controversial albeit satirical cover cartoon dated July 21, 2008 that has the Obama camp seeing RED.
The edition hit news stands yesterday, depicting presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama as the next U.S. president. He is shown in the Oval Office dressed as a Muslim. His wife Michelle Obama is portrayed as a gun slinging terrorist with a full Afro.
Even Michelle’s now famous fist bump is part of the depiction. A flag is seen burning in the fireplace - a reference to Obama’s patriotism or perceived lack of same.
The magazine contends that the scenario is nothing more than satire. The Obama’s are not amused or buying it for a moment. Satire or malicious? You decide.

The only reason that this Mr. & Mrs. Obama satire DOES have impact — and may very likely spread — is because like all good satire, or good humor for that matter, there’s more than a germ of truth in it. Otherwise, the satire would utterly roll off the Obamoids’ backs, having no impact.
