Mel Gibson and Britney Spears Do Mentoring at Havana Club

Mel Gibson and Britney Spears met last night at the Beverly Hills Havana Club. The two have been fast friends since the pop star was released from her second hospitalization early this year. They were previously neighbors in Malibu before Brit moved to her current gated community in Studio City.

Spears arrived at the cigar club at 7:00 p.m. in a Jeep Commander driven by one of her bodyguards and accompanied by her assistant Brett. The group was driven into the underground parking garage. Gibson wasn’t far behind her, turning his silver Lexus over to a valet before entering the club.

Britney was wearing some new Capri jeans that were purchased earlier in the day at Lisa Kline boutique in Beverly Hills. Photog’s outside described her mood as ‘very quiet and serious’ as she entered the club. She and Gibson reportedly meet often so that Gibson can provide guidance to the recovering celebrity.

Jamie Spears, Britney’s father, wholeheartedly approves of the mentoring that Gibson provides. He and Britney accompanied Gibson and his family to their Costa Rican vacation home last month for a week of relaxing on the beach.

Britney stayed at the cigar club until 9:30 p.m. Gibson remained for 90 additional minutes, perhaps to catch the end of one of the NBA finals being broadcast last night. He departed at 11:00 p.m.
