Newlyweds Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have finally laid speculation to rest by confirming they are expecting their first child.

The couple wrote a post on Pete’s website, friendsorenemies.com:

“While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family.”

Ashlee and Pete were married on May 17 at the bride’s parent’s home. Although the bride officially changed her name to Ashlee Wentz, she will use the name Ashlee Simpson-Wentz professionally.
