Dylan McDermott, best known for his television role on The Practice, has filed for divorce from Shiva Rose, his wife of 13 years. The couple separated in March 2007 and have now filed papers citing irreconcilable differences for the split.

McDermott, acting as his own lawyer, has filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court last Friday. The couple is seeking joint custody of their daughters, Collette, 12, and Charlotte, 2.

Shiva Rose is also an actress who appeared in David & Layla in 2006. Of Irish and Persian descent, her father was a popular television personality in his native Iran. She met Dylan in 1995 in a coffee shop near Santa Monica.

McDermott starred in the short lived 2007 television series Big Shots. The show was canceled in January 2008 after a 13 episode run.
