Some believe that behind every successful celebrity was a stage mother guiding her progeny forward while living vicariously through his or her stardom. That may well be the case and based on the number of siblings who have made it in Hollywood, many of these pushy parents did double and even triple duty to ensure that no child was left behind.

A prime example of a trio of stars are the Wilson brothers. Owen, Andrew and Luke set out for Los Angeles in 1991 and never looked back. Luke Wilson recently had the starring role in Henry Poole is Here, which is set for July 2008 release. Eldest brother Andrew Wilson, at 43, has a role in Calvin Marshall, currently in post production, about a college student trying to become a major league baseball star. Owen Wilson is filming Marley & Me in Florida with Jennifer Aniston.

Maggie Gyllenhall, 30, and Jake Gyllenhall, 27, were influenced by their director father Stephen Gyllenhall and screenwriting mother Naomi Foner. The brother and sister were introduced into their father’s films at the age of 13 and 11 respectively. Maggie’s most recent film is The Dark Knight, a Batman flick that will release in July 2008. Jake recently starred in Brothers with Natalie Portman, which weaves the story of a young man who comforts his older brother’s wife and children after the brother goes missing in Afghanistan. The movie will release in December 2008.

The successful Baldwin brothers are a foursome that have all made a name in Tinseltown. Alec, Daniel, William and Stephen have found varying degrees of success, which is quite a feat. They must have had the consummate stage mother, these boys.

Don’t be expecting to see photos of the sisters Simpson, Lohan, Olsen or Spears. We’ll leave that for a post that might be better titled World’s Neediest Celebrity Siblings. We’ve tried to include truly successful actors, although a few within this group have seen their share of problems.
