The Dark Knight is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2005 film by Chris Nolan, Batman Begins, set to be released July 18th, 2008. Acting in the movie are Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
The action crime drama depicts Batman and James Gordon joining forces with Gotham’s new District Attorney, Harvey Dent, to take on a psychotic bank robber known as The Joker, while other forces plot against them, and Joker’s crimes grow more and more deadly.
The movie was finished at the time of Heath Ledger’s death on January 22, 2008. The 28 year old actor died of an accidental prescription drug overdose. His last movie, the adventure fantasy The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was in post production at the time of Ledger’s death and will reportedly be released in 2009.
