DWTS is Hazardous: Derek Hough and Tony Dovolani Injured

Dancing with the Stars professional dancers are falling by the wayside in droves this season. Both Derek Hough and Tony Dovolani have been rushed to the hospital after suffering injuries in the past week.

Derek Hough received a neck injury while practicing a dance that was to be featured during guest Kylie Minogue’s musical performance last week. Mark Ballas, stepped in during the actual telecast to cover for the injured pro. Jonathan Roberts, another dance pro stepped in to practice with Shannon Elizabeth in the days following Derek’s accident. Hough was able to compete with his partner this week and the pair scored 28 out of 30 points. Sounds like he’s back in top form.

The latest injury, suffered by Tony Dovolani, occurred during this weeks professional dance number that was done simultaneously with Sheryl Crow’s musical performance on Tuesday evening. Dovolani was taken to a hospital for treatment of an undisclosed injury. It was first thought that he would not be able to return immediately to DWTS but later reports indicate he is able to practice with his dance partner Marissa Jaret Winokur and the pair will compete together next Monday.

Prior to the start of the season, Edyta Sliwinska had neck surgery to repair damage. She is partnered with Jason Taylor and the two have been consistently near the top of the leader board each week - so she has apparently come back strongly from the medical procedure.

Last season was full of calamities and personal tragedies. Jane Seymour and Marie Osmond both lost a parent during the course of the season. Seymour was taken to a hospital for food poisoning and Marie Osmond fainted on a live broadcast and later revealed that her son was in rehab. The only professional misstep was a case of gas for Julianne Hough - when she farted during an on air interview with Tom Bergeron. The YouTube fart video was a fan favorite on the internet.
