Simon Cowell says he only recently realized that giving makes you feel good and credits Oprah Winfrey for his enlightenment. After watching Oprah’s Big Give, Simon decided he wanted to do something to make a difference in the life of a family who’s 3-year-old daughter was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Amy and Randy Stoen travel 100 miles round trip every day to take daughter Madelaine for daily chemotherapy treatments. The time away from work, coupled with the mounting medical bills has created a financial burden for the family. Hearing about their plight, Cowell decided he wanted to do something to help them, and wrote a personal check to pay off their $162,000 mortgage.

Simon also told the couple “It doesn’t stop there. If there are any problems, I’m a guardian angel now.”

Simon Cowell has a heart? Who knew!?!
