Suzanne Pagella, also known as Suzanne Page Wangler, committed suicide last weekend after being arrested for embezzlement. The Detroit woman worked for WLAJ TV until days before her death. She resigned after her personal and legal problems began to collapse around her. Pagella’s life had been in a downward spiral that tragically ended with the TV anchor hanging herself. She was discovered in her home by her mother on Saturday, February 23, 2008.

We posted several stories on Pagella’s arrest and death and received a comment from someone who knew the woman and her family when she was younger. Following is the quote that was provided to Bitten and Bound:

“I knew this girl from our childhood and I would like to say that this is a tragedy. She comes from a good family and it’s a shame when friends and people around her saw this happening, especially employers, and did nothing to help this girl. This is a loss not only of a beautiful women but also a very kind and caring person who lost her way.”

She was arraigned on Thursday, February 21, 2008 on felony charges of embezzlement and larceny, per Edward Cibor of the Oakland County prosecutor’s office. Wangler denied all charges according to her lawyer Carl Marlinga.

Wangler, divorced from former Univ. of Michigan quarterback John Wangler, she was already on probation for a drunken driving conviction from last summer, which included a charge of child endangerment. In November 2005 she was convicted of shoplifting $600 in food and merchandise.
