Amanda L. Overmyer is one of Season 7 American Idol female contestants. The Harley riding nurse is a voracious reader, claiming to be a bookworm because “knowledge is power”. The 23 year old is from Mulberry, Indiana and auditioned in Atlanta.

This powerful songstress gets her inspiration from CCR, GNR, Bob Seger and Janis Joplin. She may have turned off the judges on Wednesday night’s performance. Simon Cowell , in particular gave Amanda some of his usual stern advice. He told her that she needs to tone down the image. The crazy hair and costumes are not going to appeal to the mainstream viewers of AI, according to cranky Cowell. Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul seemed to agree with their partner.

The judges acknowledged that Overmyer is attractive, smart and talented. They advised the Idol wannabe to play up her strengths and not cloud things with bad costume and hair choices.
