Katie Holmes was sporting a new hairdo when she appeared at the first annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood event. She and hubby Tom Cruise joined friends Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith at the luncheon that followed.

Holmes, as usual, towered over her pint size husband. She was decked out in a pair of Christian Laboutin heels and wore a checked dress.
