Nicole Richie was the guest of honor at her first of five baby showers over the weekend. The “Wizard of Oz” themed luncheon put on by party planner Mindy Weiss and hosted by Richie’s mother, was attended by 90 guests.

Richie and boyfriend Joel Madden sold the shower photos (see thumbnails below). The proceeds will go to the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation - their newly formed charity to help support mothers in need.

The shower invitation asked the guests to bring useful baby items that will be distributed through the couples charity. The foundation has reportedly already donated some items to the Los Angeles Free Clinic.

Note to others who are struggling as they look for ways to give back - this is an excellent example of using your celebrity status to help others in need. Kudos to Richie and Madden.
